I’m nearing the end of my project which means I’m starting to plan for the gallery show! Gallery shows are really expensive, and after adding up the costs for the prints, books, gallery, promo materials and more, I had an estimated price of close to $15,000.  At this point I realized I would not be able to fund the entire show myself, so I decided to check out kickstarter to help fund at least $7,000 of the show. What is Kickstarter? Kickstarter is a funding platform for creative projects, allowing me to offer you fun rewards in exchange for your support. Funding is all-or-nothing, so if I don’t raise $7,000 or more within the time limit, I don’t get anything, nobody is charged and nobody can get their rewards.
Why even have a gallery show? I think it would be amazing to see rollerblading showcased in the art world and to expose the general public to a side of rollerblading that most have never seen. As a photographer, being able to see my photos in print and share them in the format of a gallery show is an exciting way to finish this project.OK, so what do I get out of this? You get a chance to support rollerblading! ……not enough? Ok, we have some fun rewards too. Stickers, prints, limited edition books, private advance screening of the show, photo shoots, mystery toys, and more. Check out the kickstarter page for a lot more info on the rewards!Hmmm….ok, I’m in. What do I need to do? Click on the link below, watch the video and read the description if you want to hear more about the project and the gallery show. On the right side, choose BACK THIS PROJECT and choose your reward! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1833988213/the-rollerblading-project

The New Rollerblading Project Blog

Sorry! I created a new blog, one that I could update and customize more easily. The good news is that I will update this one much more!

My rule of “no flash” means that I have to work with the available lighting even at night. Car headlights or street lights are usually the only source of light. So in this case, shooting a moving subject at iso 6400 1.2, skating out of the darkness….doesn’t always work out.

I like the depth and mixed lighting here. This one is a little closer to the general working concept of the project, although I’m still trying to figure out exactly how I want the finished photos to look.
Shot with a 50mm and available light only.

I just posted a few photos from BCSD. Balance will be using a lot of the photos I shot so I have to wait until that issue comes out before I can post any of those. In the meantime, here’s a few they aren’t using :)
